To be completely honest with you a lot of this project was done because I really wanted to create my own shoe. It was something that I was really passionate about and as soon as I thought of it I knew I wanted to do it. When I was in the process of pitching my capstone to people this was the part that they didn't see, how this would help serve the community. Some said to make my shoe entirely out of recycled material, I found out that this would be nearly impossible so that got scrapped. Others said hold an event, donate the funds. It really varied, but I think my idea combined some that were suggested to me while others were completely my own. I was planning on an event type of fundraiser, but that clearly can not happen. The other idea I had was putting my sneaker up for action at the next SLA event and donating the proceeds to American Red Cross or the salvation army, but I do not actually have a shoe so that also doesn't work unfortunately. But what I think I can do at this point is leave the donation page down bellow for two organizations that help distribute clothes to those in need. Unfortunately my give back to the community had a lot to do with in person activities, but I do hope that in some way this helps. Both the Salvation Army and American Red Cross do incredible work especially with helping people who are in need find clothes, shoes, and other necessities as well as many other incredible things. Now more than ever they will need help from everyone, so please check them out and donate if you can.
